Important Announcement

Expedition & Wilderness Medicine started a world movement for medics working in remote and austere locations. We remain at the forefront in all we do and that's why we are changing our name to 'World Extreme Medicine'. It reflects a change in how we as a worldwide community of medics respond to emergencies and an ever widening range of opportunities for adventurous medics... Where man goes, medicine must follow.

Antarctic Wilderness Medicine Conference, 10 CME. 2014 Antarctica

28 November 2014 to 11 December 2014

An iconic Antarctic Medical Conference exploring one of the worlds most amazing regions.
Join us aboard the National Geographic Explorer, a state of the art expedition ship. The medical element will be led by Dr Andrew Peacock (MBBS).  Andrew is an Australian registered Medical Practitioner with wide ranging emergency and general medical experience in worldwide locations including New Zealand, Antarctica, Papua New Guinea, USA, Russia, Nepal, India, Kazakhstan, the Solomon Islands and the Cayman Islands. He has significant experience in remote area work with minimal equipment and backup and on expeditions to diverse environments ranging from dense jungle to the ice of Antarctica and in the high Himalaya. His particular area of interest is Altitude Medicine and he has ascents of the central summit of Shishapangma (8013m) in Tibet and Manaslu (8163m) in Nepal under his belt.

Andrew enjoys nothing more than combining his climbing, hiking, mountaineering and other outdoor adventure skills with work as an Expedition Medical Officer and bringing home amazing images to share with the world as an award-winning adventure travel photographer:

The ship will also have its own Expedition Leader, a National Geographic staffer, who are amazing experts in their own right and consequently offer a superb environment from which to explore this incredible region.
