Join World Extreme Medicine for a new Desert Medicine course in Sharqiya Sands (formerly Ramlat al-Wahiba), Oman. This 6-day course will focus on medical and survival skills needed while working with teams across the world stunning desert landscapes.

More Information

We’re teaming up with Mark Evans MBE, Outward Bound Oman and our very own Dr Sean Hudson to deliver a world-class comprehensive training package. During the course, you’ll spend 4 days and 4 nights travelling across Sharqiya Sands and camping in the desert. 

Who should attend
Doctors, nurses and paramedics with a passion for adventure, especially in desert and hot weather regions. Whether you’re new to desert medicine or simply looking to enhance your skills our expert team has something for you.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Group transfer by bus from Muscat to the desert; theory and preparation for course
Day 2 - Depart on foot expedition; wild camp overnight. OBO support vehicle and instructor provided for duration of course
Day 3 - Foot expedition continues; joined by 4x4 vehicle (x1) for vehicle based element; wild camp overnight
Day 4 - Back to desert centre mid AM for shower and debrief; meet camels – depart for overnight on foot and with camels (x3); wild camp 
Day 5 - Camel expedition; full day; wild camp 
Day 6 - Return to desert centre early AM for course debrief/wash up – Course ends; depart desert late morning for afternoon visit to Muscat souk; farewell dinner Kargeen; evening flights out
